News flash: People are shallow

The Maths lecturer who also happens to be a model has been dominating the news on social media:

Apparently the world is aghast – and just cannot comprehend – the fact  that someone can be intelligent and also “hot”.

Personally, this guy doesn’t do it for me. At all. But I’ve never been into model looks and superficial beauty, so that’s hardly surprising. Still, that’s not really the point, is it?

Do we really live in a world that classifies people as either “clever” or “fit”? Haven’t we moved on from that? Is it so very difficult to believe that people can be both?

And now we have girls (and guys) falling over themselves to proclaim a newly found love for Maths just because this particular lecturer is ripped. Apparently Pietro Boselli is “winning hearts around the world” – I’m sorry but what a load of utter b******s. If Johnny Depp himself was willing to teach me Maths, I still wouldn’t be interested. Well, maybe I’d consider it for a minute or two, but I’m pretty sure I’d decline all the same (I really do hate Maths).

Are good looks really the only way to get the masses to listen and take notice of what you have to say? I find that so, so depressing.

How I wish people would stop being so fucking shallow – not that it’s going to happen anytime soon, more’s the pity!

      1. It’s good to get pissed off now and then. That’s what blogs are for. In the States, we use the word “math” to mean both the singular and the plural. Thus, a math teacher teaches many forms of “maths.” Though it makes total sense, I never knew “maths” was used in Briton to describe a teacher of “maths”. That’s so fuckin’ cool! I love language and how it’s used and varies amongst speakers of the same language even. Linguistics is, or was, a hobby of mine. Don’t spend much time on it now. Now I pontificate. 😀

      2. Yes, I knew about the difference, it is rather weird how even the same language can have so many varieties (in different countries) to describe even one word.
I think you’re very good at pontificating and should concentrate on that – pontificating suits you! 😉

  1. It’s sad how shallow humans can be. I agree that it’s frustrating. I’ve actually been thinking and writing about the topic of beauty lately, and I may have to turn my post into a series. Here’s so much to say about beauty. In my opinion, looks shouldn’t matter, but in our society, there is so much emphasis on what people look like.

  2. There’s nothing more stimulating then a good conversation,I prefer a good game of mental chess any time, beauty only works for so long but if it’s starts with a good conversation and goes into other directions wow
