The only way to tell that summer is truly on its way round my neck of the woods is to keep an eye out for the neighbour’s stone dogs. When the caps and sunglasses appear, you know you’ve truly made it through another winter.
As you can see, the dogs were not yet prepared for summer a few weeks ago.
Summer afternoon, summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.
Henry James
You get to see sunglasses appear on stone dogs as summer comes, and here I get to see yards fill with plastic gnomes in Bermuda shorts. Ah, ya gotta love summer.

Summer!
I like the pictures… We sure don’t do that in these ‘parts of the wood’. It is almost always sunny such that even our houses wear sunglasses and caps. Oh well… π
