The Light & the Darkness

I am the sweetly scented rose
folding its delicate petals
The prickly treacherous thorn
drawing blood, relishing its flow
The fragrant woods,
and freshly cut hay
on a summer’s day
The soft voice soothing a child
The gentle hand keeping her from harm
The girl with an open book
sitting on the cathedral’s steps
pondering thoughts of
spiritualism and finesse
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
The stolen cigarette,
vodka and lemonade
Seedy alleyways
The wringing bodies,
feeling the heat
eyes stinging,
sweat burning like acid
The abandon, the moans
Wild sex as vital as a breath
followed by the tenderness of the poet
I am the light and the darkness
intertwined,
navigating between tame and wild
It is simply, who I am

      1. I have 12 days off! Ok, that includes weekends but I am so relieved. No crazy time tables or exams etc. I will spend some time with my mother in law and my husband and then my husband and I are off to see my parents. It will be great to get away from the hectic pace of Madrid! Enjoy your weekend, my friend xxxxxx

    1. “Signature passion”…I really, really like that, I think writing should convey emotion and reflect who we are as people, so I’m always chuffed when someone says I’ve managed to do that – thank you! 🙂

  1. I must say that you are extremely beautiful and such a natural goddess. 🙂 A fine compliment.

Now, you poems are a balance of 2, the light that shows you have heart and are sweet. And the dark is you being the creative adventurous person. I hope I interpret this poem correctly.

    Amazing work and bravo! 🙂

      1. If this is how your describe yourself, then YES! Absolutely. We’d have a wicked good time, me trying my best to imitate your accent. 🙂
