Pale Heir

ng6307294
Integrity,
Bravery,
for those qualities
and
your pale skin,
your dark hair,
which could so easily
turn me to sin
O Jon Snow
up on that wall
I’d make you
forget your vows
flout the divine lights –
our exquisite shame
thrown in the faces
of the old gods
and the new –
Fire and ice
merging till sunrise
enough to bring anyone
back to life

Red blood on diaphanous snow
silent vigil of the crows
your breath has stilled
and yet
should the stars feel so inclined
be willing to align
You might
rise again
and defy
traitors and foes
because…
a game of thrones
cannot be played
without my pale rightful heir
I simply couldn’t bear
this sad state of affairs

*Last night’s episode kept us guessing – we still don’t know for sure – they’re trying to drive us (me) crazy – I stayed up till 4am for GoT and yet, unknown is his fate*

  1. Great piece Ms Busy lol…I did a whole epic saga of haiku’s and mysterios in preparation for the premier. All filled with predictions and thoughts.

I’m just messing with you Nat, I know you will see when you have the time. Really do love this piece!

    1. Matt, o my twin! I’ve been so busy it’s unreal 😦
I actually wrote this today while doing my grocery shopping, going up and down the aisle picking up milk and eggs while typing this on my phone 😬 ridiculous! I only slept 3 hours last night because I crazily stayed up to watch GoT as the premiere was shown in the UK “live”…but what is 9pm for you guys is 2am for me! Add the discussing the episode afterwards with my friend, and I didn’t get to bed till 4.
I’m well aware I’m due a proper catch up on here, and I will be along to visit you a bit later. I’m even more excited now you’ve mentioned your “GoT” writing! 😏
Also, I wanna know what you thought of the episode… 😁

      1. That’s what I thought too! Last year’s was kind of disappointing but this one was just right…as you said: setting up the dominoes nicely! It should be an exciting season, especially as it’s going to be all new to us book readers…

      2. Yes! I thought that! I also thought that was the only “weak” moment of the premiere, the whole “Dorne” segment. In the books, Prince Doran is pretty wily, even if kind of weak, so what happened last night didn’t feel right…it was somehow too easy…I do feel like the Dorne segments in general are the weakest, we never see anymore than “that garden” and nobody but the sand snakes…it’s not developed enough IMO

      3. Oh, and I must just add: I LOVED the Jaime/Cersei short segment. I believe I tweeted that line last night live: “Fuck profecy, fuck fate, fuck everything that isn’t us”. Did I ever mention I love Jaime? Lol 💜

      4. I just love him lol…but I get what you’re saying…and that’s why I like him so much, he’s very real, he’s capable of the best AND the worst too…that’s what I find fascinating about him: he’s a complex man 💜

      5. The woman in the Dorn segment is lame, that whole Dorn Snore part in book 5 seemed redundancy in the book I’m glad they’ve deemphasized it in the show

      6. I agree, last year I was *meh* but that’s partly because book 5 was weak sauce in comparison to the others and too tangent obsessed, so weaving and changing the catlin zombie story and non death of certain characters etc, was hard to get right. I think they can rectify this and byild up the better story parts.

    1. My awesome friend, I believe you will enjoy it, I am so glad the UK shows the GoT premieres “live” because this one was worth staying up for. Last year, I remember being disappointed by it. Anyway, I MUST hear your thoughts once you’ve seen it! 😀

    1. Dear me, you MUST! I do believe it’s one of the best things on TV, it has its weaknesses, and I won’t even get started on the whole “the books are better” thing, but on the whole, it’s a *really* good show 🙂

  2. Very riveting and timely! I bought HBO GO so I could watch it, such is my addiction. Interesting because THIS is the first series NOT adapted from the book!!! Tenderhooks!!! Having read all five books (7000 pages) the investment is anxious! I personally think the TV show isn’t a patch on the books BUT where it diverges from the books, the differences, are SUPERB! Without *spoilers* is it agreed that where the show diverges from the books is deftly done?

      1. Got to say I think the changes from the book are great because bless our George but he didn’t call it as well, maybe when you see it, okay it out, then it’s clearer why. I think the changes are great and it’s exciting (I sound like a knob) for those who’ve read the books to see those changes. Didn’t like the actress who played Cerci at first but now I do, loved Catelin Stark from day one, hope she somehow returns. Still out about Wierwood Boy. Excellent casting except Sansa, she gets on my tits. Jon is the one, twinned w obviously Dragon Mama and Jame who makes incest hot! Cement Garden, eat your heart out

      2. I love Catelyn, I really hope Lady Stoneheart makes it back on TV, although obviously it will be in a totally different way than it was in the books, for obvious reasons. I don’t like Sansa at all, I said that earlier tonight to someone else. But Jon is my sweetheart of course, and Jaime. But Tyrion I also love so much for his brain and dry wit!

        Liked by 1 person

      3. I know Sansas character is written wooden but i think another actor could have fixed that, she’s inferior to say, a powerful character like Cerci because she can’t bring it. Who knew I cared this much? 😉

        Liked by 1 person

      4. Agreed again! The character isn’t really developed in the books, she’s like a little baby princess (as opposed to Arya who’s totally kickass from the beginning) thrown into a nightmare, but we don’t really get into her head or see her develop as a character…but in the show she could have been so much more…especially with the whole Ramsay wedding and everything…but the actress doesn’t cut it. At all.
And boy, do I care about all this! 😉

      1. I know!!!! I have the first season sitting right above me on a shelf. I am so behind the times with my sad, pitiful self. 😥 I’m going to have to beg my eldest girl to help me get the WHOLE series because I KNOW I shall be addicted! ❤

  3. And …. always felt the tv prigram had to bravely go ahead of the damn books that are never being written, and the 2 are just separate forever now. Given that, of course like you I’m seriously hoping job is somehow reanimated but not if only as a zombie so my money is shakily on Milisandre, come on girl/hag! Stir him back!

    1. Yes, I have mixed feelings about this as well, the fact the books are from now on a totally different thing. It was always kinda like that but even more so now, it’s gonna be like reading (almost) a different story…WHEN we finally get our hands on that book….WHEN it finally gets published! *sigh*

      1. I was wondering how he could? If some of the contradictions stay it won’t make sense. I’m greedy and want instant gratification so right now I’m in the GOT OPIUM HOUSE

      1. Well, at the end of last season, last year, I would have bet anything it would be her. Now, after watching the premiere, I’m not so sure…I’m even afraid he might actually be dead…I DEFINITELY don’t want him back as a white walker…but I don’t know, the way they were guarding his body last night…and how she featured, with that last scene…somehow I still have some hope…

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Yeah when she came in I was like YES! And she STROKES HIS CHEEK?? Noooooo! Come on woman! Work your magic. Definitely not whitewalker. Maybe Bran?

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Hahaha, I was the same, she came in and I was like: score!! I was right all along, how satisfying, how predictable but still satisfying…then she fucking stroked his cheek…and that was IT! WTAF!! Hahaha

      4. HAHAHAHA! !! We could do HILARIOUS skits of this! She comes in with a football GOAL! He does a Little Britain and when her backs turned runs around alive…..

      5. He’s like in northern heavy accent, ey ey, I thought she was a fit Bird and she’s 400 yrs old? No man I’ll stay cold

      6. I have tentative hope as the actor said he’s in S6. I’m hoping that’s not just as a flipping corpse! I have some faith in his not being interred yet (and the wolf being nearby) he gives a new meaning to hot brooding northerner

      7. HAHAHAHA! !!! It totally shattered it for me too!!!! Wrong! (Repeat doesn’t he know? Three times in heavy Lancs accent!).

    1. Not yet! It’s on tonight at 9pm in the UK, they only let us watch the premiere live! But, thanks to my US friends, I know! I KNOW!! OMFG, I’m so happy, and it happens exactly how I predicted it would happen 😁💜

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Exactly!! But they didn’t do it on purpose to be fair, they just assumed I had seen it because I watched the premiere “live” and they thought I could do that every week. I so would have liked to have watched it without knowing and then just go: “holy fuck!”…but it was still a great moment

      2. I figured if you hadn’t seen it I didn’t want to ruin it but I ran to your site after watching

      3. Yeah, same! I went from hoping madly to mild despair when I had my doubts they were going to do it. Seriously, I get SO emotionally involved, it’s actually ridiculous 😂

      4. Me too HAHAHA! !! Seriously though so REVENGE is next (and aren’t you glad Catelin Stark isn’t walking around as a disfigured zombie after all?)

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Oh I CANNOT wait for next week’s episode and revenge! I reckon he’s gonna come back harder and harsher than he was, I reckon he’s gonna leave the wall and go on to fulfil that fabulous destiny of his

      6. I was surprised they’re still part way in the fifth book w the theon and his sister story, maricella and form and those parts but definitely unchartered ground in others, how in earth can his books be written to make sense now?

        Liked by 1 person

      7. Yes! I thought the same when we got to the islands. That’s still in the books, and watching it on screen it feels like they are waaaay back on that story whereas they’ve jumped ahead quite a lot with other bits. I was discussing this with someone else today, like, I reeeeally wonder what the next book is gonna be like now.

      8. I mean seriously. .. how? And it’s weird because Maid of Tarth dead in book alive in film hard to reconcile (my spell check wanted to say maid I f teeth, hahaha!)

        Liked by 1 person

      9. Hang on, is she definitely dead in the books? I seem to remember she was delivered to Catelyn who informed her she was going to die…and then…end of page and we never read “it” happening… do we? Or am I not remembering this right?

        Liked by 1 person

      10. Maybe, I seem to remember that I didn’t understand why Brienne wasn’t explaining herself…like, in her place I would have been like “look sister, I know you’re pissed and I get it but I had good reasons to do what I did, and here they are!! 😉

      11. I thought it was, and parts of book five I didn’t concentrate because it was all these new characters zzzz

      12. If i were brutal (go’wan then!) Id say f**k it and get a deft ghost writer to somehow reconcile as much as poss and keep going along the series trajectory. I like the new Milisandre

      13. Yeah, I know what you mean, it goes back to what I said to you last week about how weird it’s gonna be reading the next book because after watching the show that’s going in different directions so often…it’s gonna be like reading a different story that’s STILL the same story, you know?

      14. Exactly plus imagine he won’t sell like crazy because everyone will already know …. so he shot himself in the foot.

      15. Yeah, like hurry the fuck up, man! Haha, seriously, I keep having visions of him dying before he’s finished writing them…I know there’s bound to be some kind of contingency plan in case that should happen but…you know

      18. The first one was amazing, I read it throughout the summer in France and it took me much longer than it should have coz I was visiting and just couldn’t sit down and read uninterrupted like I tend to do if I’m caught up in book. I have been known to cancel invitations just because I need to get to the end of something lol

    1. Yeah, I’ve seen it! I woke up to messages from people who assumed I’d seen it so I knew the “big reveal” before I watched it. It was still the most amazing moment when I finally got round to watching the episode though. Those last few seconds…OMG! #Amazing
