I have no time for fools at the moment. Well, I never have any time for them…but some guy totally picked the wrong moment to get all high and mighty about George Michael. He started lecturing me, telling me that his morals were not “all that”, that he “did drugs” and had got behind the wheel of a car while high etc…
George is dead, leave him the fuck alone. So he was a bit of a whore, so what? So he looked for cock in public toilets…that was his business and nobody else’s. Don’t even get me started on the fact undercover police officers should have better things to do with their time — there are, after all, actual criminals out there. I cheered him on when he released “Outside”, what a great way to stick 2 fingers up at all the hypocrites. With that song, he showed he had a sense of humour and that he could do satire with the best of them.
Yes, George struggled with addiction, most probably because of depression…and he made some questionable decisions under the influence. He wasn’t the first one and he won’t be the last. In any case, it gave material to the gutter press and its pathetic readers who didn’t care one bit this man was torn because of having to hide his sexuality for so long…mainly because of his parents and the worry it would cause them.
Does THAT sound like a self-centered man to anyone? He loved his mother very much, so sue him for that!
George was much more than a tabloid story — he was an incredibly generous man and unlike most celebrities he didn’t “give” to court publicity because he did it anonymously. He had his demons to fight but he had a big heart, not to mention the fact he was exceptionally talented.
If you can’t see that we’ve lost one of the few real “stars” left, then you’re an idiot and you need to get a life.
Go worship meaningless and talentless Cheryl Cole-or whatever her name is these days-and stay in your superficial bland bubble so I don’t have to listen to your stupid BS. George Michael, with all his faults, was a better man that you could ever dream of being. #SomePeople
*Starting the year on a rant. I didn’t plan to, but some people are just too fucking stupid*
Amen! XOXO

I don’t really need to add anything to this. If people would concern themselves with their own demons and butt out of other people’s morals and bedrooms and demons it would be a real step forward in this world that is so chock full of judgement and hatred. If it’s not hurting you, and I don’t mean causing you discomfort because you are filled with religious zest ( Keep that to yourself, don’t come preaching your fantasies to me) shut the fuck up and go about your way, tsk tsking under your breath so we don’t have to hear you.

Well, I really don’t need to add anything to that either, Holly. Pretty much perfect.

George was a generous man who did a lot of good things while no one was looking. He was one heck of a song writer too.

Exactly. He gave time and money and did it anonymously so he was doing it for no reason other than he had a kind, generous heart.

I’ve heard the stories about George Michael’s addictions and some of his more questionable decisions, but what about the stories of his incredible generosity which have only come out after his death because he wanted to keep them secret. Not only did he give away millions of dollars to charities, but he volunteered for places like homeless shelters. Yes, he struggled. Who among us don’t? But overall he was a gifted and compassionate man, and for me those positives far outweigh the negatives.💁🏻

Pretty much perfect reply here so I have nothing to add 🙂
He was a lovely, lovely man and generous people are a pretty rare breed these days.

Absolutely. So many people judge and they do so while being less than perfect themselves. Nobody is perfect which is good because perfection is boring…but there’s so much hypocrisy around.

Christian-right whack-jobs are the worse at this type of thing. I wrote a small piece about Carrie Fisher last week and some religious loon took it as an opportunity to go off on George Michael. Stupid, ignorant, cruse hate-filled crap, and so much of it under the guise of “religion”. A-holes.

A-holes indeed! I don’t really care what people think as long as they don’t try lecturing me with their crap because then…I’m gonna rip into them.

I agree with all the good comments on George but you spoilt yourself by the uncalled for reference to Ms Cole,, she’s had a rough life too. With much respect, I think you should practice what you preach.
Wishing you and your kin a super 2017 – Mick

I do practice what I preach, I try to anyway. Cheryl may have had a rough life but it is a fact she has no talent whatsoever and that she has done really well nonetheless, previous rough life or not. I am unsure what it is she has to offer as a “celebrity”, and yet she is “literally” worshipped by many people. I was trying to think of a current “celebrity” who is not in George’s league and she pretty much fitted the bill. Also, the person who lectured me today seems to think she’s wonderful…I can’t see how George Michael could be the devil in his eyes while he thinks so much of a talentless celebrity. I take what you have said on board but I don’t regret mentioning her the way I did in this post. To me, it’s fitting.
Also wishing you and your loved ones a great 2017

I think you are missing my point, both are good people dedicating part of their lives to the public, as singers, and charitable cause. Their personal lives is for them only, and of course those close to them. Their talents, as is with any celebrities, is open to public opinion, in this instance they both fulfilled their fans desires. I never said but I think it should be known that I am not a fan of ether, however there are facets of their musicality that I find pleasing io the ear.. I was truly stunned when Georges death was reported, only some very few days before I was watching him live on the ‘One Show’, so sad. To end I will say your final remark is only relevant to yourself, not to the character of ether George or Cheryl both being good people; the point I was trying to make.

I’m not sure we are understanding each other. I don’t see Cheryl as a “singer” because she can’t sing, and I was not aware she did much regarding charitable causes. What I do see, is a woman who can’t really do anything apart from looking pretty. That’s it. As for fulfilling her fan’s desires, how?! I guess she has shown that if you’re pretty, get a lucky break and want it hard enough…then you can get “somewhere” in life. However, this alone is not something that impresses me at all.

The singer’s new single ‘I Don’t Care’ toppled Ed Sheeran off the top spot. Your entitled to your opinion.. Just don’t tar yourself with the same brush as all the idiots out there. There bad folk then there’s good folk as in George and Cheryl. Slagging anyone off is not nice unless talking politics, and that’s a whole new ball game. Take care – Mick

It doesn’t matter how many number one singles she has had or how many people she has “toppled” off the top spot…she is still talentless. It doesn’t take much to have a number 1 these days and she is not the first to have sold records solely on the strength of a pretty face.
At least you have clarified her name, it has been changed so many times I wasn’t sure…it sounds totally ridiculous now tbh but whatever. There are indeed good folks out there…but I don’t see what you’re basing your assumption that Cheryl is one of them on. I was not aware I was slagging her off, I thought I was just stating facts, and stating the obvious. Slagging her off would be me saying she’s so desperate for publicity she’s had to hook her claws into a 1 direction ex-member…or if I said that she sounds really “thick” when she speaks…or a million other things I could say if I wanted to slag her off. However it really wasn’t what I was doing in the first place. But I do think you and I have very different views on this and I don’t see us agreeing any time soon.

You’ve tarred yourself mate, you cant call people idiots when your acting like one. That’s my point and sadly you proved me right.

I don’t know which I find more offensive: the fact you called me “mate” or an “idiot”. I’ve proved that some people can’t listen to an opinion without resorting to name calling: I don’t recall insulting you like you just have me. Sad is the right word here

I am not making you out to be an idiot you did that for yourself. The other thing is I never said you were not entitled to your opinion, in fact the opposite. From the very begging I agreed that George was a good guy, and in fact a very handsome one he was. However the latter bears no significance along with Cheryl’s good looks, as to how they progressed with their singing careers, both at various times did very well. George was fighting a battle with himself and sadly lost. Many, including myself , grieve deeply at the loss of this wonderful man. The idiots,(your description), you referred to are most probably all homophobic living in the past and their opinions are, if discriminating, unlawful, on the other hand then, just like yours, general opinions, which I have reiterated a few times, you, me, and all are entitled to. Personally I think the majority of the general public will be grieving for George, as for Cheryl, she’s still out there doing what she knows best, and good luck to her. Good luck to you too, be good, if not be careful,
Mick

I *still* haven’t got a clue what your point was or how you think I made myself to be “an idiot”. Not a clue, “mate”. No need telling you I disagree, I’m sure you know that. I didn’t make myself to be an idiot in this case although fuck knows I have done so in the past on various occasions…but different times, different stories. Let’s leave it at that.

Well said. I adored George and it’s pointless and ridiculous to go on about his flaws. He was one of the good guys for sure. Go and trash Farage and the nasty people who actually go out of their way to hurt others but don’t piss on George’s funeral over bugger all.
Let’s all go outside 😉

Yes! I adored him too, and I’m not a celebrity worshipper. If somebody famous I admire or love or whatever, does or say something stupid, then I’m not going to be blinded by my adoration and defend them. BUT George was indeed one of the good guys, it should be obvious to anyone possessed of a bit of sense.
Totally agree with you on Farage and co. I saw Trump’s New Year’s message on Twitter the other day and it was so ridiculously disgusting and frankly unbelievable in its ego and stupidity and nastiness…THIS is what we should be worrying about and fighting against.
Christoph, I vote we ALL go outside 😉 x

It’s very easy to point ones finger and shake their head
you don’t know the man until you
stand inside their shoes
He was in the public’s eye
So his behavior become everyone attention
He was searching for answers
And anyone who knows addiction
Is why he couldn’t find his answers
Sad but true

I’ll just add, that it’s the worst of all timing to trash someone at the time of their death. Have a little grace, a little kindness. Additionally, it is a shame that our ‘eyes’ are drawn to the flaws and imperfections and pass over the rest of the beautiful picture. Ah well… 😕

Well, Meg. It is their loss. If people can’t see magic when it’s in front of their eyes, they are unimaginative at best and very stupid at worst.
But yes, the man has just died. Far too young as well. I certainly wasn’t in the mood to listen (so soon) to why I wasn’t allowed to be upset about his death…because that’s very much what the lecturing was about…

It was sad enough to have lost GM this year, let alone having people rip him apart in his death. Makes me wonder just how perfect their lives are that they can condemn a man who is already dead.

You tell it like it is and I like that. I think it is in pretty poor taste for people to start being like that when someone has just died, some people have no respect. No one is perfect and we all have flaws. It is a sad loss that he is gone, what a talent he was.
