I have a new crush, it’s Jordan Peterson. Brain and reason will get me anytime, I can’t be doing with aggressive agendas and mass hysteria. No Cathy Newman and No Rose Army for me. No hypocrisy. No insanity. No demonising, lying, rewriting, attacking, not taking responsibility – no playing the victim.
It IS possible to be a strong woman, tomb raiding (not literally, let’s calm down) in a kickass outfit, while loving men and valuing their input.
One can have deserted the left and yet not have joined the right.
I’m Lara Croft and I’m not. I’m in-between, and the media doesn’t know what to do with me.

*For my beloved grandmother who passed away on January 7th – I feel her absence dearly and daily. I would have said those words to her and she would have disagreed on a couple of points, and told me why, and applauded me for being forthright.*

  1. Oh. My. Goodness. I feel awful being torn between two emotions. I’m truly saddened by the passing of your grandmother. My sincere condolences, Nathalie. Onto the other emotion. Technically speaking, I don’t think that a mouth agape while looking at the photo is an emotion, but you get the idea. 😍😍

      1. I know, it creates such a vacuum in one’s life, especially when there’s such a special bond. She’s done well to influence such a special granddaughter. I’m sure that she continues to be proud of the person that you are.

      2. I like winter. Though I want bloody snow and I’m not getting it. I have been busy with all kinds of stuff. Working hard on my Master’s currently. Fell out of love with the blog, mainly because of all the aggro I got with my last opinion piece, I just can’t be bothered with it all

      3. I’m all set with winter. Removing snow from a 200′ driveway in the dead of winter makes me say vile things while I’m doing it. 😉 I completely understand about the social climate on WP. I lost a friend when i called out the duplicity of her position regarding political deviants. It seems that how egregious a crime is, is solely dependent on what political party you’re affiliated with. I can’t stand that hypocrisy.

      4. Ah, I’d help you shovel!
I’m sorry about that, I can’t say I’ve lost friends but there are people who were acquaintances and with whom I used to have interesting convos once in a while who now won’t come anywhere near me. It’s sad. It’s pathetic actually.

      5. It’s the new reality of public discourse, especially from the left. I don’t understand the reluctance to exchange ideas. It’s healthy to hear opinions that challenge our own.

  2. So sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother 😦

Fantastic lines. The media, and I’d argue many citizens of Western cultures, are obsessed with grouping everything and everyone into one or the other extreme. They don’t know what to do with anything that doesn’t fit clearly into polar categories, and so usually end up ignoring it or trying to force it into a box that is too small.

  3. Condolences on your grandmother, as ever I am here should you need a chat or anything of that nature.

I like Jordan Peterson, he is one of those voices that I wish more people listened to, it may stop some of the idiotic statements people spout. The media have no idea how to cope with anyone, their stories are based on the emotional impact these days and readers still fall for it (when not doing the media’s job for them by providing stories, that is).

You are the sort of strong woman that does your gender (one of the 76 these days, don’t forget!) credit.

    1. This is such a lovely comment, which makes me feel even worse that I’m replying to it so late! Thank you so much.
And I’m glad you appreciate Jordan Peterson, I think more and more people are discovering him following that Cathy Newman disaster interview. Like you, I’m pleased about it as common sense is in short supply these days.

      1. She was a train wreck on that, it’s good that people have seen that and been drawn to his speaking and now his books as well. It’s nice to see a thoughtful person debate and put down reactionary and ill thought out arguments.

A bientôt. Le printemps se rapproche. Bz
