We escaped gloomy cages
Breathed new air outside the musty pages
Of the books we’d sheltered in
For so long
We were bewitching birds brought back for a single song
Dried butterflies,
Wings untied,
Briefly swelling with life
Drunk on sun & scented promises
The sweet sound of stolen kisses
For a little while, we were allowed
To fly once more – high, above the clouds
It didn’t last
It never does
Alas everything must die
Go back to ashes and dust
But,
I’ll always remember
How once we emerged
From the cocoon of past winters
Great to see you writing

Thank you, it was just a little something but I’ve not written much lately so…

Cool. Hope you write more. I made a vow to write more myself.

Good luck with it. I made no such vow myself because I’m not very good with resolutions 😉

You’re a rebel so that fits 🙂 I’ve written lots so just about getting organised.

Now THAT’S more like it!! I still say you are a great writer!
Evocative and beautifully constructed Nathalie. 🙂 (Actually that phrase applies equally to the photograph preceding your perfect prose, just with a teeny bit different emphasis!) 😉 🙂
A somewhat unusual treatment of that photo i notice – but not as much as i appreciate the content! 💜

Ah, thank you but you have more faith in my abilities than you should have. Still, I appreciate the compliment 🙂
As for the photo, I was playing around with it – I like to do that 😁

We could argue over your written composition abilities or you could just come to your senses and see it my way?? 😀
And i am in NO way biased in your favour from the occasional selfie posts interspersed between your flashes of sheer brilliance..
… honest!
(fingers crossed behind my back!) 🤞 🤞

Hmmm, there is a reason why I don’t write much of it (because I’m not very good at it, unlike some 😉)
